Our premium cocobolo consists of hand-picked pieces of cocobolo with swirls, knots, crotchwood, burls, and other figured wood. This is a step above our regular cocobolo. This is some great wood! The pieces pictured are representative of the quality of wood you will get, although it may not be these exact pieces. The pen shown is NOT part of the listing, but was made with a blank from the batch shown. This is a great size for pen kits as well as razor kits. From the pictures, you can see that these pieces are loaded with reds, oranges, browns, and black with plenty of waves and swirls in the grain. Cocobolo is highly sought after for its beauty, tight grain, hardness, and ability to polish to a glassy finish. It is, however, an oily wood. Its natural oils can cause problems with some glues and oil-based finishes. Instead, try sanding to a polish with micro-mesh and use a wax finish for added durability.
