Description: This Grand Extra Extra large Antique China Head Doll is a rare find! Made in Germany during the 1870’s period by the Conta and Boeme porcelain factory. She is 29” tall with a shoulder head 8” width and 8” height. She is a heavy doll and has a stunning presence. Black curly hair with deep sausage curls and center part with some rubs on the rear of the head. Striking big molded blue eyes are heavy lidded sleep eyes that are characteristic feature of the Conta and Boeme. The partial pupil is painted close to the black upper eyelid making the eyes look sleepy and very unusual. Red upper red lip peaks with tiny curl into a smile. Deeply molded facial features that are not found on most chinas making her face almost seem real. I had to have a professional body made for the large head with leather hands as the original was small and dangerous to hold ( $250). The head has a one inch piece missing by the edge in the REAR and a faint hairline over the right shoulder but sturdy and solid. Amazed such a heavy large China has had no repairs nor cracks to her face and head. She has antique sheer cotton overslip with lace and a vintage pair of panties and a cotton very full slip. Delicate white christening dress that shows off her fine features. Including pink stone broach with pearl dangles This doll is exceptional and it is sure to become a valuable addition to any collection. Hoping the rarity of this antique will find her a new home.
