Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for one of the most gorgeous antique hand mirrors I have owned in over 35 years in the antiques business. The mirror dates to the Art Nouveau period and is decorated with a garland of flowers and an urn of flowers embellishing an engine turned guilloche enamel background inside an engraved Sterling Silver frame. This stunning hand mirror has all the "bells and whistles" you could ask for in one piece. The cornflower blue enamel has a decorative diamond engine turned background elaborately decorated with a design of flowers. The blue enamel that decorates the top of the mirror is surrounded by a band of white enamel and then is encased within Sterling Silver that is engraved with a leaf garland. The back of the handle is smooth, slightly curved undecorated silver with a silver bezel that securely holds the beveled mirror glass in place. Both the silver and the enameled top of the mirror are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The bevelled mirror fits tightly within the frame and is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips or cracks. The mirror is clouded and could use being re-silvered should you intend to use it. As a dresser accessory the mirror is fine as is. Measures 10 1/4" long with the top of the mirror measuring 5 3/4" in diameter. The mirror is 4 7/8" in diameter. Weighs 1.2 pounds. The silver frame is marked with the trademark stamp of William B. Kerr & Co. of Newark NJ in business from 1890-1927 when the company was absorbed into Gorham. The silver is also marked on the outside rim "Sterling, 5225-45". The William B. Kerr Company was well regarded for their Art Nouveau jewelry, hollowware and vanity items. This is a stunning mirror that would be a special addition to any vanity setting. This mirror has been in my personal collection for 25 years and I'm sure it will immediately become one of your personal favorites also.
