Order number: FAMAG1624.504 (example picture of set 16254.505)The problem: If the carpenter drills railing holes in the stair stringer when building the stairs, he must drill into the stringer surface at an angle other than 90°. Since conventional cylinder head drills have a center point that is too short, they are not suitable for this application. Traditional stair construction drills have a long centering tip for precisely this reason. However, this center point is usually designed in such a way that it has no cutting effect (since it has no cutting edges) and therefore has to be pressed into the wood while the drill is running. This is particularly unfavorable for hardwood. But stair stringers and handrails are usually made of hardwood..... Furthermore, these tools are relatively expensive and very difficult to regrind. The solution: The all-rounder is called Staketen-Bormax®! This all-rounder is always supplied with a pilot drill, center point and a long Allen key. You are probably already familiar with the geometry of this new railing drill: Exactly, Bormax®! From a diameter of 25 mm double-edged, smaller than 25 mm with a main cutting edge and a peripheral cutting edge. In the center of this stocking Bormax® you will find a 4.0 mm hole in which either the center point or the center drill can be used. The centering tip is designed as a triangle, which guides the Bormax® particularly well when drilling but generates little friction. A small clamping surface is attached for a firm seat in the stocking Bormax®. The center drill also has a clamping surface and a total length of 40 mm. Mounted in the stocking Bormax®, the center drill sticks out a good 20 mm from the Bormax®. If this length is not sufficient for you, you can also use a commercially available 4 mm drill bit. With the centering point used, this all-rounder machines softwood, MDF boards, chipboard and European hardwood just as reliably as its traditional brother (Series 1622). If you would like to drill into the wood at an angle, simply exchange the centering point for the enclosed centering drill.
