Description: If you have an earlier FE engine block and chassis with a generator, (pre '65), and you want to convert to an alternator, or if you have a newer chassis with an alternator and you want to install that earlier FE, (like the 406 or early 427), or purchased an FE and did not realize there was a difference, there are two problems, one is the block is not drilled for the main bolt of the alternator, (X picture #2), and the early water pump has only two mounting holes for the bracketry. The latter is easy to correct by upgrading to any water pump from '65 up, (picture #3). The other problem was more difficult until now. We've modified our very popular one-piece stainless bracket to stand alone and support the alternator without the block. It mounts to the two main bosses on the water pump like before, and uses another bolt/spacer combination to make it stout enough to support the alternator alone, (pics 4 & 5), without tensioner alignment issues due to the one piece design. This bracket also allows for the one-wire alternator upgrade, (NOT GM styles), the hybrid Ford 1G or the v-belt 3G style works perfect, (pictured). Precision cut from 3/16" 304 Stainless Steel. All grade 8 hardware is included. email with any questions.
