Description Guitarist Char has had a profound influence on the history of Japanese rock music and continues to stand at the forefront of the scene. The CHAR MUSTANG is based on the iconic OLYMPIC WHITE color MUSTANG that has represented his career, and is a new MUSTANG with a variety of ideas unique to Char that have never been seen before. This model is now available in a MADE IN JAPAN version, which is more accessible to a wider audience. Fender started to sell MUSTANG in 1964. In the same year, Tokyo hosted Japan's first Olympic Games, and Char's guitar career started right around that time. More than 50 years later, the Tokyo Olympics were to be held in 2020. Inspired by this, Char started a project to create a new MUSTANG made in Japan in colors associated with the Olympics, and in a way that goes back to the original concept of MUSTANG as a “student model,” and that is easy for even beginners to pick up. The project was started to realize Char's wish to create a new MUSTANG made in Japan that is easy to handle even for beginners. The concept behind the development of this model was to create a “MUSTANG with the functionality of the STRATOCASTER”. The MUSTANG's unique playability and ease of handling have been retained, while the arming of the STRATOCASTER is now possible. In addition, the back panel of the body has been eliminated at the request of Char himself, creating a simple style. Furthermore, a 3-position toggle switch is employed for more intuitive pickup operation. The position of the control knob has been changed to be closer to the strings so that the volume can be operated with a feeling similar to that of a STRATOCASTER, and an original pickguard shape has been adopted for the CHAR MUSTANG that is not found on previous MUSTANGs.
