Description: During the 1950s, the Fenton glass company began producing a mid century style line for only two years. The pattern was known as New World and produced primarily in two colors: cranberry and lime green opalescent. The design included bowls, plates, a wine bottle with accompanying glasses as well as several other shapes. Several pieces in other colors than these two were also made but not released to the market. A somewhat scarce item seldom surfacing in the marketplace is the 9 inch salad plate known as ware number 1619. When found, the lime green example comes to market much less than its match in cranberry. I believe towards the end of the 20th century, the Fenton company re-introduced this line in a multiple of colors but these examples also have the raised oval Fenton mark molded on the bottom. This beautiful unmarked plate has a striking contrast of the rich green glass hue with the white opalescent concentric rings circling the plate. The plate measures just over 9 1/4” diameter and sets approximately 3/4” high when lying flat. In factory original condition showing no damage or repairs. When holding at an angle to the light, I see little if any scratches on the front surface as this plate appears to never have been used. The bottom rim and part of the center have been factory ground which is normal for this line from this era. An excellent chance to pick up a very scarce example of mid century modern Fenton opalescent glass. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
