Unframed. See photos. Artist Bio: Don Williams (1941-) Don Williams was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1941. He grew up in Lincoln, NE and in 1959 entered the University of Nebraska as an art major. At the end of his sophomore year he was awarded a Max Beckmann Scholarship to study painting and sculpture at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. His year in New York was an unforgettable experience that greatly influenced his work. Don returned to Lincoln to finish his schooling and received his BFA in painting in 1964. He received his MFA in 1966 from Tulane University. After three years of teaching college courses, Don moved to San Francisco in 1969. He has lived in the San Francisco bay area ever since. He has had many solo shows in galleries and museums including the M.H. de Young Museum in San Francisco, The San Jose Museum of Art, The Mecene Gallery in Tokyo, Japan and the Sheldon Art Museum in Lincoln, NE. His work is in numerous public and private collections including the Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln. He is still an active painter. Biography adapted from the Modern Arts Midtown biography.
