It was commissioned in 1807 from the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart at the peak of his career. The Emperor wished him simple and handsome as a Greek temple. To enhance it, it was decided to build it on the site of a convent from rue Saint-Augustin to rue Feydeau, in the business district. From 1826, the year of its inauguration, to 1998, the Brongniart Palace housed the Paris Stock Exchange, as well as the Commercial Court, until 1864. Designed by its author, who died before it was finished, on the model of Vespasian's palace in Rome, it was completed by Éloi Labarre. He modified some of the exterior facilities planned by Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart. It was also Labarre who completed the Chamber of the Commercial Court, which he had decorated with allegorical paintings. In 1987, the Brongniart Palace was listed in the Historic Monuments. The sober elegance and architectural strength of the imposing rectangular stone facade are characteristic of neo-classical-style constructions. The rank of Corinthian columns was preceded by two allegories, among the four added to the corners of the building in 1851 and 1852, agriculture, industry, commerce and justice, the latter, by Francisque Duret, erected on the front left pedestal of the building. Another allegory of the Justice, by Louis-Denis Caillouette, installed on the first floor, thus focuses on the history of the Brongniart Palace until 1864: the meeting in the same place, following an idea inherited from the French Revolution, trade and justice of the trade.Specifications:Printing technique - IntaglioFace value - 1.29Thematic - Geography and TourismType of physical product - Beautiful single stampsType of bonding - GummedShipment destination - FranceMaximum weight - 20gLegal Notice - Creation and engraving Sophie Beaujard; Stamp and leaf outline: after. photos Manuel Cohen / aurimages; Thumbnail: from ap. photo Turpin / Belpress.Author - BEAUJARD SophieIssue date - 03/06/2024Format - Sheet 143x185 mm, stamp 40x30 mm + sticker 26xNumber of stamps per presentation - 1Permanent validity - NoValidity area - Departing from mainland France to France, Andorra and Monaco.
