Of the extra 3 deniers in value, two were to revert to the king, and one to the individual who delivered the coins to the mint for countermarking. They circulated in all the French American colonies, from Canada down to New Orleans. Vlack lists them on page 9-10 of "The French Billon Coinage in the Americas." Coins where the under type is too worn to identify are the most common, followed by coins of Henry IV. All other under types are listed between R6 and R8 by Vlack and are much harder to find.
