FRANK CARLSON - AUTOGRAPH CIRCA 1952 - HFSID 293567 FRANK CARLSON His ink signature as US Senator on a card with typed caption Signature: "Frank Carlson" as US Senator, 5x3 card. Typed caption: "February 12, 1952/United States Senator - Kansas." Accompanied by envelope from the Senate Military Affairs Committee bearing Carlson's stamped frank. FRANK CARLSON (1893-1987), a Kansas Republican, was a US Representative (1935-1947), Governor (1947-1950) and Senator (1950-1969), the first Kansan elected Governor and to both Houses of the US Congress. (Sam Brownback became the second in 2010.) Carlson made the first invitation to a President (Eisenhower) to attend a Senate Prayer Breakfast, establishing an annual tradition. From the collection of Ralph Errington Ward (1926-2009) a fighter pilot and squadron commander in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II. Ward went on to become President and CEO of Cheseborough-Ponds, Inc., transforming the cosmetics firm into a major home product conglomerate. Toned. Mounting residue on verso. Fine condition.
