Description: NOTE: I try to keep the cost with free shipping on small seed orders as low as possible by using first class letter mail without tracking. It works well, but sometimes is a little slow and very occasionally they don't show up at all. In order to be able to keep using this low cost service on Ebay, PLEASE do not open a case if you do not receive the seed order. There is no way for me to provide tracking for an open case, and they punish me for USPS mail failures. JUST MESSAGE ME DIRECTLY and let me know you haven't received them, and I'll resend them out for you. Look for the seeds (unless you pay for first class package with tracking) in your regular letter mail in a white envelope with a butterfly or flower sticker on it. Choose From 25 to 5000 BULK Seeds~ *Seed orders of over $10 automatically come with First Class Shipping with tracking as free shipping option ORGANIC Perennial Gaillardia Aristata ~ Arizona Sun Blanket Flower Seeds are ALWAYS the most freshly harvested, either from the current year or previous, and have been kept in cold storage They are harvested from the plants that we grow here, ALL NATURALLY, using only organic materials; our own home created compost and fertilizers, no harmful pesticides or herbicides, and rainwater!!! My seeds are always tested every few months to make sure they maintain an 80 to 95% germination rate This beautiful bright clumping flower spreads quickly, and bloom proficiently. It's actually a hybrid ; the blooms are bright red with yellow tips. I have found that many of the plants will have the red blooms with yellow tips from the collected seeds, however they do occasionally show the traits of the parent plants. I have had some come out with red blooms with white tips. Gaillardia is a somewhat tender perennial, and will not survive temperatures consistently below 20 degrees F, without protection of the clump by hay, or other organic materials (or of course a cold frame or greenhouse). They will survive frost and temps of down to 30 degrees F with no problem, and usually, if they have wind protection, will even continue to bloom when night temps drop below freezing, as long as daytime temperatures are at least into the upper 40s. So, with protection, these will continue blooming deep into fall and even into winter. I currently have some still blooming and it's the end of January. They've been under plastic and have hay protection when the temps are below the upper 20s, but with no heat source. They have continued to bloom, but the blooms do not produce any seeds, because there are no pollinators out and I haven't been hand pollinating the flowers. The plants have a wispy light green colored foliage, and flowers are on a single stem like a daisy. They get to be approx. 2' tall, and perhaps a bit taller. Pruned, they will get thicker and form more blooms. The blossoms are a favorite of bees and butterflies and are a spectacular addition to any landscape or garden! They are a typically short living perennial if left to it's own devices. It will eventually die back, and begin to decline. HOWEVER, if you dig them up every couple of years and divide the clumps, and replant them and keep them pruned back every year, they will continue to do very well, and provide tons of new plants and blooms for you to enjoy in other places around your home and garden. The Gaillardia or Blanket Flower seeds are easy to germinate and do NOT require cold stratification in order to sprout. All you have to do is plant them like you would an annual flower seed; they DO require light, so plant close to the surface with only a very light covering, and keep moist until they sprout. Germination time: 14 to 21 days Planting Depth: 1/8" Sunlight: 6 to 8 hrs minimum for germination; plants do best planted in full sun or mostly sunny locations Temperature: 60 to 65 degrees F, consistently . Transplant seedlings started indoors to outdoor setting when soil temps are at least 65 degrees Spacing: Thin seedlings to 12" apart. Transplant to 15" apart. Days to maturity: 45 days Feeding: Once plants begin to bloom; Add fresh compost/organic material to topsoil every 2 weeks, or use a basic 10-10-10 fertilizer or all organic fertilizer with balanced nutrient level. **********************************************************************SHIPPING: I ship individual orders of small and tiny seeds in regular first class letter envelopes without tracking to save you on shipping costs. *****If you order 4 or more seed items, order larger sized seeds, or large volumes of one seed type, I will send in a padded envelope with tracking automatically with the free shipping option. *****You can request 1st class shipping with tracking, or priority mail/priority express shipping with any order. If you chose "FREE SHIPPING", please note that many times you will not receive a tracking number when your order is marked complete. If you do not receive your seed order within 2 weeks of the date you ordered, contact me, and I'll resend your order. I do not give refunds or accept returns on seeds, but I will most certainly resend an order that does not show up due to USPS incompetence.
