Title page (opposite frontispiece) has blue ink initials in bottom right corner. Complete text is clean and undamaged. A very nice copy. Book Content - Frieda Lawrence was married to D. H. Lawrence from 1912 until his death in 1930. She was the daughter of a Prussian aristocrat, was born in Germany in 1879. She first married at the age of twenty to Ernest Weekley, a linguistics professor at the University of Nottingham. However, upon meeting D.H. Lawrence, she abandoned him and their children to start a new life with Lawrence as his wife and loyal literary champion. This book is her memoir, which she began writing after his death in 1935 in the years she lived in America. It remained unfinished at her death in 1956. The complete text is included here along with a choice of her most significant writings on Lawrence, correspondence - one exchange of note being with Middleton Murry at towards the end of their lives, shedding new light on past quarrels and speculations.
