Description: Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn 6” Chef's Kitchen Knife Carbon Steel Solingen Germany Chef’s knife made by the revered Solingen knife manufacturer Friedrich Herder. The company was established in 1727. This piece was likely manufactured in the latter half of 20th century, given the logo is etched, not stamped on the blade. 6 inch blade forged with highest quality carbon steel. Handle is made of a dark brown hardwood used on all higher end F. Herder kitchen knives. Three rivets secure the handle, with one in the shape of F. Herder’s Pikas trademark. I acquired the knife as NOS and have been using it in kitchen for sometime. The 6” blade makes it very versatile and manageable, especially for small kitchen space or small hands. The knife is in excellent condition and has developed a nice patina. Handle is firmly attached and well preserved. With a very handy wooden blade guard, magnets at the back. It still retains factory edge - very sharp even after some use now. Ready to use.
