The composition rotor blades were free to slide in the slots of the cylinder. "Since these rotor blades are free-riding in their rotor slots, they automatically compensate for blade wear, maintaining perfect cylinder wall contact through centrifugal wear." This means the asbestos composition rotor blades could have been a potential source of airborne asbestos dust contamination.
