Hard to find Original 1979 Reissue / Repressing of the original 1970 (1971 in the U.S.) Progressive / Pop / Classic Rock album from Genesis featuring Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips, Anthony Banks, Michael Rutherford and John Mayhew. Produced by John Anthony. In the Original Gatefold Cover with NO Cutouts, Barcode or promo markings. On the Tan MCA labels. Includes the Original Printed MCA Inner Sleeve. This is a Pinkneyville Pressing as indicated by the Runout Vinyl / Matrix markings which read: Matrix / Runout (Both sides, Stamped): ◈-P-◈ Matrix / Runout (Side A, Etched): AB 816 A W2 Matrix / Runout (Side B, Etched): AB 816 B W2 CONDITION The Gatefold Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear, edge creasing and corner softening/wear. There is some slight wear to the top seam due to a bit of a paste up error - very minor. There is a little red ink dot in the upper left corner. There is a little bit of “age spotting” inside the gatefold. Super solid with no splits, stains, tears, writing, cutouts, etc. and would rate VG+ overall. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few light scuffs and faint hairlines. VG+ visually and mostly plays better but with a couple spots of faint groove noise. The labels show a few light spindle trails and there is a name written on the side two label along with some residue from an old price tag. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them.
