Description: As the dedication on the framed Gold 45 reads, "....He Stopped Loving Her Today has been named in numerous surveys as THE GREATEST COUNTRY SONG OF ALL TIME. I believe that, as did my father, Ken Kittinger, the premier gold record maker on Music Row for 50 years. He made the big award after George sold more than a million albums and I put together the small framed gold record with George's image and birth and death dates in the center as a memorial piece. The record itself came from Pop's workshop. He passed in 2016 and left behind thousands of items of memorabilia, including awards he made for every record label in Nashville, LA, NY and across the pond, like Apple, Geffen and others. ALSO INCLUDED: 8 X 10 framed "Memorial Photo" as shown with matching black frame (as gold record). NOTE - the last photo is the gold record in a BLACK frame versus the white frame in listing photo. You may request black or oak. A nice narrative comes with these two complementary pieces that tells the story of this song and George's reluctance to record it. He was in a drought. A big one. No hit records for more than six years and his manager Billy Sherrill was sure that "He Stopped Loving Her....." would be a great one. George thought it stunk. Too "sappy," "too long," "too depressing and sad," and he hated the melody. But Billy persevered and George finally gave in. Later, George admitted that He Stopped Loving Her Today saved his fledgling career. And I guess it did. Grammy, CMA, ACM awards and a song that will outlive all of us to be certain. The simple framed gold record is available separately but this award would be $169 without the gold record so it's a deal as is. The frame is very nice and can be hung or stood up on a flat surface. You may request a similar black frame instead of the pictured white. I will need a name for the COA (Certificate of Authenticity) for the award. Note: For those of you familiar with my father's awards, you will notice that this is not the former "Gold" record listed. That sold out.
