Description: This lovely colorful field of iris applique quilt is from the 1930's or 1940's. The cotton quilt is crisp and has never been used or washed. Blue quilting dots are still visible. The condition of excellent with no holes, wear, fading or loose stitching. It has one very light spot smaller than a pea that is barely noticeable - see picture #15. The back of the quilt is white and has one tiny stain. The quilting is all hand sewn, the appliques are all hand sewn, and the binding is also hand sewn. The quilt has a scalloped border with a green binding. There is lovely feathered and rolling waves type quilting along the inner and outer border and grid stitching in the middle. The quilting is done at 6 to 7 stitches per inch. The size is 92" x 76" and the batting is thin. If you put the front under a bright light, you'll see multiple places where the applique threads have migrated to under the top white layer. See picture 16 for the worst example, and pictures 17 - 18 for lesser examples. The quilt is pictured on a mattress that is 66" wide by 80" long. The quilt has been priced accordingly.
