My Ref-A-a Description and Back Story-An original B/W 3 1/2" X 2 1/4" photo of the Graf Zeppelin in Lakehurst N.J. The photo has a a line of spectators waiting to see the Graf Zeppelin at Lakehurst, circa 1929. This photo has some information that can help you decode where it is at and when. The person in the photo, the gentleman in the photo, is the main subject with the Graf Zeppelin's gondola behind him. There probably was a photographer taking photos of spectators as a souvenir of the event. I used a digital microscope to look at the photos details which it is almost impossible to see with your eyes alone. In the hand of the gentleman is an object that looks like a hand cranked video camera. It's close to a Bolex variety but the photo is too early since those didn't show up until 1935. This was a wealthy man. I identified the gondola of that of the Graf Zeppelin LZ-127. Since Lakehurst N.J. was the starting location for the Round the World trip, It just makes sense that this is a photo before the Graf Zeppelin took off as thousands descended upon Lakehurst to see it. In the lower right hand corner of the photo you see some sort of banner beneath a desk like object or maybe something else. It is an advertisement for E.M Trimble Manufacturing in Rochester NY.(about 380 miles from Lakehurst) The banner's header reads "Trimble Nurseryland Furniture". You can see all of that under a microscope. Trimble started in 1912 and their biggest item was a crib called.... The Kiddie Koop! That banner looks like it is attached to a crib like object and most likely was there for spectators with babies to try it out. That's my best guess. I could be wrong about what it is it is attached to. Strange? Maybe but now, here is the kicker! Trimble first made the news in June of 1943 which talked about a baby furniture company that was now making stocks for the M1 Carbine. Yes, they converted their factory just to make carbine stocks and were one of ten plus companies that lent a helping hand in the Carbines manufacturing. Did Trimble know something we didn't in 1929? Did his advertising, choice of location or something else help land him the contract? I don't know! Trimble had their hands in everything and in 1945 started manufacturing metal goods like children gyms. The last information I could find about the company was in 1958. I attached some photos of the closeups with the digital microscope. The lines you see across the photo aren't scratches on the photo itself. They probably occurred during processing. Shipping is $2.99 USPS First Class Mail. It will be sent in a new archival soft sleeve in a sturdy photo mailer. If you want to protect your photo from additional bending or mishandling, then chose USPS Ground Advantage at checkout. That includes a bigger envelope with a brand new BCW Semi-rigid sleeve and your package will be treated as a parcel and will not be bent. That is $6.99. If a do not Bend sticker is stuck onto an envelope with First Class Mail, it will be ignored. Those are the facts! I take my shipping seriously. If you have ever purchased from me in the past, you will know that. Paper goods and photos are sent completely surrounded by acid free archival quality papers and/or acid free PVC free Polypropylene bags and covers. This cost me well spent money. I also use a variety of recycled and new packaging including boxes and mailers. I try not to profit on my shipping. Please do not misinterpret my shipping charges. How many times have you received a package only to spend ten minutes trying to open it without destroying the contents!!! No extra tape, glue, staples, or my worst fear, items shoved between two pieces of cardboard with tape on every edge requiring a surgeon's scalpel to open it!!! This is a new store for me but I have been on Ebay for over 27 years with perfect feedback. I will be adding many more Zeppelin, Airship and Aviation related photos, postcards and a variety of relics over the next few days, weeks and months.
