Description: My brother in law has a wood lathe as he loves to make wooden bowls. This one as you can see is an awesome bowl. It has such amazing character!! It is hand turned on a wood lathe from one piece of hackberry wood from a tree that fell during our derecho. It was then finished out with a sealer that helps retain the natural color and gives it a nice smooth shine/glow to it.What a nifty bowl. Just check out that wood grain. A very pretty piece and has dried in perfect shape with no cracks or breaks in the wood during the drying that I noticed. Just one note that he did get the bottom turned pretty thin so it sounds hollow when you lightly tap on it and so a person would not want to put anything to heavy in it and to take care to not drop it so not to crack the bottom. It is really cool that in a couple of spots if you hold it up to the sun you can see some light in the bottom. : -) I tried to take a lot of pictures of it so you get a better look at the great wood grain and coloring with the first pictures more taken during the day and the last 5 pictures taken at night. It is just about 7 1/4 inches around at the widest point, 2 3/4 inches tall and the opening is about 5 1/8 inches wide. The very bottom of the base of the bowl is also about 5 1/8 inches across. This particular bowl was finished in February and has been sitting since to be sure it is completely dry. : -) He wanted to wait longer on this since it was out of a derecho tree to be sure it was done drying and the shape stayed true to form as it dried. Since nothing has changed in the length of time it appears to be finished drying. : -) I normally let the bowls sit for a least 3 months or even longer to be sure they are done drying and that nothing major happens. Please note that these bowls are not to be used for food but more for decoration. Feel free to ask any questions and hopefully someone would like to give this awesome looking Hackberry bowl a home. Sorry no returns and this does come from a smoke free, pet free home. :-) I have listed lots of other cedar bowls and other wooden bowls he has made so see my other auctions. A few even have lids for them. One thing to note that the colors may be darker or lighter than what your computer screen shows. Just thought I would point that out as a possibility. :-) It will be well wrapped to keep it as safe as possible during shipping. : -) Ebay has changed how the Buy It Now combined shipping works. What Ebay indicates is "that means buyers must first add items to their eBay Shopping Cart to purchase multiple items with a single payment." So from what I understand if you want to purchase more than one Buy It Now item it appears you need to add this to you cart, commit to buy and then request an invoice so I am able to combine your purchases in one invoice/payment.
