Description: The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents a vintage Herschede electric grandfather clock with moon dial and carved swan-neck bonnet with center finial. Electric cord on back. Plays Westminster. Round silvered face within a brass square featuring reticulated brass in a foliate design. On the right side is a CHIMES/SILENT switch. Arabic numbers and elegant silver hands. Upper center of face on the brass is REVERE; lower center of face on brass is TELCHRON THE FRANK HERSCHEDE CO. CINCINNATI. Face is flanked by carved reeded columns. Gothic glass windows are on either side, revealing interior brass workings. Behind the case door, with raised panel, are 5 tubular bells. 4 bracket feet. The electric clock was originally listed in the 1929 Herschede catalogue, the first year the company produced an electric grandfather clock, with this description: LYNN. Honduras Mahogany. Colonial (view photo #16). The grandfather clock in this listing, however, was created later, in 1958, the year Herschede produced a smaller mechanism with a “Telechron H” motor, hence the “TELECHRON” word on the clock’s face, followed by THE FRANK HERSCHEDE CO.
