Sawtelle at that time encompased some of the area that was eventually termed the "Brentwood" area. Louis Berrien is listed in the USGA book "The Club Makers". In that book they have him listed as being Wilshire CC. I have seen an ad from a golf magazine dated 1919 where Berrien advertises lessons at Brentwood CC in Sawtelle. Another article had him in Santa Monica in 1930 where he says that he has been in the golf business for 20 years. This would indicate that he started as a pro around 1910. He shows up playing tournaments in California and also a connection to Del Monte CC in Monterey. It looks as though he was at the Salt Lake City Country Club in the mid teens with Willie Lock. They were both involved in coaching George Von Elm who became one of the biggest golfers in the world in the 20's.
