Description: HUGE U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS PICTORIAL CENTER PHOTO & PAPERWORK ARCHIVE OF GEORGE AUSTIN HAY. George Austin Hay (1915-2018) served in the Pacific Theater during World War Two. From 1955-1970 he worked as a producer & motion picture casting director at Astoria studios in New York making informational & training films with the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Center. An internet search of Hay will reveal more information about his life & career. This archive is recently out of his estate. It features paperwork, letters, manuals, booklets, "In Focus" unit newspapers, stationary & envelopes and numerous 8X10 photos of actors of the era. The photos (most but not all) feature actors wearing military uniforms, some are studio shots and other from movie sets. The uniforms the actors are wearing range from the Revolutionary War era, Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War & the Vietnam War. The majority of the uniforms are from the WWII - Vietnam eras. These photos were kept by Hay as a casting director for hiring actors for his films as these actors all had prior experience in military related roles. Some of the photos have contact information along with short bios of their acting careers on the reverse. There are no big names in this lot as the U.S. Army Signal Corps was not paying the large salaries that the John Wayne, Henry Fonda or Robert Mitchum types would require. I did some quick research here and there and it appears that some of these actors can be found in an internet search, most were in movies acting in supporting roles. Overall a very interesting & unusual archive related to the U.S. Army Signal Corps Pictorial Center.A brief description of The U.S. Army Pictorial Center from one of the booklets in this archive - It produced, procured, processed & distributed motion pictures, film strips, recordings, transparencies & television productions on film & video tape, of military training, orientation, education & miscellaneous subjects. Maintained & operated the Army Motion Picture Depository and the Army Motion Picture Records Center. Provided pictorial support for special field exercises & other military activities.***CHECK OUT OUR OTHER LISTINGS & ADD US AS ONE OF YOUR SAVED SELLERS FOR MORE VINTAGE MILITARIA***I am always happy to combine shipping for multiple items purchased whenever possible.
