Thank you. ********** Internal Reference ID: 960 IMPORTANT - READ ENTIRE LISTING: These are new old stock gasket set FOLDERS (NO GASKETS) from around the 1940s that have been in storage since the 1990s. The gaskets were removed and are being sold separately. The fronts of the Indian Genuine Parts folders (side with colored logo design) are in fair to good condition. For the most part, there is just dirt and imperfections from storage and age. There is more damage to the outer edges of the folders due to storage position and where more water damage occurred. The reverse of the folder does not have a logo and may have handwritten fitment notes, fingerprints, dirt, etc. Every folder has different imperfections in different areas. All folders may have dust, mold residue and /or a light moldy smell due to water damage and age. We have included photos that show the common imperfections that may be present. These came from Jack O'Leary's shop in Austin, TX - he was in business from 1947 to 1992 and sold AJS (A. J. Stevens & Co. Ltd), BSAs, Indians, Matchless and Vincents. We believe these gasket folders are from the 1940s. We have also included a photo of the shop from May 1956 (FOR REFERENCE ONLY - not included in this listing). Indian Genuine Parts Gasket Folder Measurements: approximately 15 inches long X 10 inches wide X 2/16 inches thick Part Number printed on front: 76297 or 76 297 or 76297 SET'S Handwritten on back of some folders: Lower Set741-4560 (not sure what this means) Per the handwritten note on the back of some folders, we believe this folder held gaskets for 741 with a 45 cubic inch engine. This also matches a historical site we found that relayed the following: The Army considered the 640 satisfactory after extensive testing; it was durable enough and did what it was supposed to do, but had one drawback—it was slow. To address the power deficit, a second model, the 741, was created. Outwardly identical to the 641, it used the civilian low-compression version of the 45 cu in Sport Scout powerplant. It appears the 741 was manufactured from 1935 to 1945.
