He became noted for his deep faith and his gentle approach to the religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation. He is known also for his writings on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation, particularly the Introduction to the Devout Life and the Treatise on the Love of God. Condition:Good+ condition for this antique leather-bound book. Cover shows at least moderate wear, but with gold lettering legible, and most gold decoration still intact. Top of spine has been repaired, and still shows signs of cracked/broken leather, though now strong with glue. Edges of spine may have been repaired also...not sure. Corners show blunting and light rubbing. Hinges/binding are strong/tight...it may well have been rebound in its life. Interior shows scattered light tanning, light moisture stain, or foxing spots, but no dark or disfiguring stains... no significant flaws. Book is strong enough to be used normally, and is quite Collectible.
