Description: Original watercolor by James L. Thompson of two boys playing marbles. Thompson was a Boston artist working during the early 1900's. He worked at Botolph Studios in Boston and was an illustrator for the Christian Science Monitor. In 1922 entered etchings in the annual exhibition of the Concord Art Association. Important artists who also participated in the show included Mary Cassatt, George Bellows, Joseph Pennell, Frank Benson, Malvina Hoffman, Paul Manship, Leon Kroll and Walter Ufer. Size of this wonderful painting is 12 x 13. Initialed and dated '15 lower left. An evocative, superbly rendered work. Very good condition, ready for matting and framing.
