Description: A pretty original pencil drawing design on thick watercolour paper, the costume design for the 1986 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Northanger Abbey” for the “Pockmarked Lady/ Marchioness” played by Elaine Ives-Cameron. By acclaimed costume designer Nicholas Rocker. Fabric swatches attached to the artwork and annotated in pencil, boldly signed by Nicholas Rocker and dated 1986 lower right. Two photocopies with additional notes and fabric swatches attached included. Janeausten.co.uk notes Rockers work in their critique of the film - “The costumes, created by Nicholas Rocker, are lavish and appealing. While some of the gowns must fall into the category of pure whimsy, others are quite correct.” A very decorative piece in Nicks distinctive style that would display very well. The picture measurements overall 35.5cm x 25.5cm. Nicholas Rocker is an award winning and accomplished costume designer who worked on many BBC productions and with music and film greats, including Shirley Bassey and Twiggy amongst many others. He is well known for his work in cult TV show ‘Blake 7’ and film ‘Bon Voyage’ to name a few. A few light creases to the paper but this does not distract from the image, otherwise overall good condition. The back of the paper is slightly tacky from previous mounting but this does not affect the artwork. One photocopy is folded in half, both show signs of age and use, a rip to one. Please be guided by photographs for condition. The newspaper cuttings displayed in the last photographs are not included for sale in this listing and is for illustrative/informative purposes only. All items are packed with good quality materials and the greatest care to ensure safe delivery.
