Description: Japanese Geisha - Wood Block Print, Mounted in a Wood Box with Glass Box measures approximately 8.5” tall, 6” wide & 2.5” deep…actual print is approximately 7.75” by 5.25”. This Japanese woodblock print is a type of printmaking that was developed in Japan in the 17th century. Woodblock prints are made by carving a design into a wooden block, then inking the block and pressing it onto paper. The image is of a woman, probably a Geisha, in a kimono. She is standing in a garden, and there is a river in the background. The print is very detailed, and the colors are vibrant. It is permanently sealed in the wood box, so keep in mind when purchasing. Searched internet but nothing came up quite like this piece…maybe be rare, not sure. Preowned in very good condition…the print is in excellent condition…the biggest issues are with the wooden block shaped frame, there are a few marks, nicks & the lower right back cover has some damage (may have been dropped on that corner)…see photos.
