Description: Japanese Phrase Book, TM 30-611 with Propaganda Leaflet and Ticket Lot Japanese Phrase Book, War Department, GPO, TM 30-641, 1944. 184 pages. Used in the field by Gi, who also brought back a Japanese equipment tag, and propaganda leaflet dropped by American troops on Japanese, and a shipping tag picked up at Luzon in October of 1945.The Leaflet is annotated by the GI, “U.S. to the Japs. A surrender leaflet droped in hills and Japan. Southern actent I guess. See how it dralled out.” Leaflet measures approximately 6 x 9 inches, and the tag is 2 3/4 x 5 1/4, and annotated “Luzon Oct. 16, 1945, Jap shipping ticket.” The tag/ticket was nailed down on crate at one point, shows the rust from nails, soiled. The leaflet is quickly cut, but overall in very good condition. Found in this manual but no name of soldier who brought them back. The phrase book shows use, rust on staples, folds, wear, etc., just what you’d expect of see from a wartime used piece.
