Description: Japanese Samurai Musha Ningyo Warrior White Horse Unique Antique Japanese Samurai Musha Ningyo Warrior Horse, these are rare and hard to find in such nice condition. These horses came in sets with a warrior or were sold alone, they were handmade so no two are the same. This model was most likely made between 1920-1940. He is an antique Japanese Samurai Musha Ningyo Warrior White Horse in full regalia made in Japan. He is a white papier mache horse, constructed of silk, wood, paper, silk brocade & metal with traditional orange passementerie (fringe and tassels), a black wood saddle with brocade panel and metal stirrups, a white horse hair mane and tail, silk ribbons, celluloid hooves, and glass inset eyes. Based on the models from the Meiji era (A.D. 1868-1912), this toy horse doll was designed as a gift to celebrate the Boy's Day, or Tango-No-Sekku. A white horse historically symbolized the god of the sun in the Japanese religion of Shinto. Horses were widely used in warfare throughout Japanese history and the Samurai class prided themselves on their horsemanship. He is extremely detailed and well-made - a stunning example of this lost art. Sticker on under belly reads 'Made in Japan'. He is in very nice condition with no breaks, stains or missing parts from what I can see. He is a little dusty in some areas from storage or being on display, but really is in amazing condition for his age and the delicate materials he is made from. 11" high and 12.5" long. See photos, they ARE part of description and I will not be accepting returns for this item.
