Dept., May 5, 55.” The original inquiry stated, “Are Officers who have been on Sick leave, and report themselves fit for duty, entitled to mileage on obeying the first Order assigning them to duty received after so reporting?,” and Jesup provided his following conclusion, “Under the regulations they are not, unless they be first placed on duty at the post where they report for duty.” SECRETARY OF WAR DAVIS APPROVES QUARTERMASTER GENERAL THOMAS SIGNEY JESUP’S DECISION TO NOT PAY OFFICERS FOR SICK LEAVE Contains two pages on a single leaf, measuring 7.75 by 4.75 inches, created at the War Department in Washington, DC on May 5, 1955, and in very good condition with light staining throughout and tape repairs along the fold separations.
