Description: For your consideration is an original John Rogers group entitled"The First Ride". It has a patent date of Sept 4th. 1888. Another of Rogers statues that has two variations. The variationon Rogers patent application shows this sculpture with the womanwearing no bonnet. This variation is listed among the Rogers groups that I have listed on Ebay. The later variation in this listing shows the woman wearing a bonnet.Overall the sculpture is in great shape but it has a light wash of paintprobably applied to cover minor flaking. Ex.
