Description: This Kabuki figurine, "The Marionette," is the fourth issue in The Hamilton Collection's "The Art of Kabuki Hakata Doll Figurines Collection. The collection was a Limited Edition of 9,800 figurines. I obtained this "production proof" from my husband, who worked at Hamilton Collection when this collection was produced (in the early 80s.) Because of this ownership path, this particular figurine has no bottom stamp attesting to its authenticity. Because of this item not having a bottom stamp, I have reduced the price from the "going" rate of $45.00 for one of these issues, to $35.00 plus shipping. (At the moment, two other Marionette figurines are for sale online for $45. The full collection is also available on Etsy for $395, or about $65 for each figurine.) The measurements for this figurine are 10 3/4 inches high, 4 inches wide, and 3 1/2 inches deep. This collection was produced by Hamilton Collection as the first limited edition honoring the classic performing art of Kabuki. It was inspired by the traditional Kabuki theater of Japan, and created exclusively for The Hamilton by exceptional Japanese artisans. The originals in this collection were created by a renowned Hakata doll artisan, Togo San. If you appreciate the Japanese culture, you probably already know about the traditional Kabuki theater in Japan. If someone you know appreciates this culture, this figurine would make a wonderful Christmas or Hanukah gift.
