Kalinger was started by a couple, Catherine and Laurent Martinez who who had a small workshop in Paris, 28 rue des Archives, in the Le Marais district of Paris. After four years of creating they registered their brand, Kalinger Their style was the typical French style of the time, oversized, ornate and Byzantine inspired. They used metals, glass, gold and stones and usually large ones. It’s hard for a vintage jewelry lover to not love a Kalinger piece as they embody vintage French jewelry. Each jewelry piece is hand crafted Haute Couture, their high quality and craftsmanship make Kalinger pieces highly collectible. The couple behind Kalinger continued to create and design until 1997 when they closed their doors. All Kalinger pieces were made between 1986-1997.
