Description: Langenthal Swiss porcelain, large, dramatic and useful porcelain and hardwood pestle made, I believe, in the 1950's or early 1960's by the Porzellanfabrik Langenthal AG, Langenthal, Switzerland. This massive pestle weighs a little over 1 1/4 pounds and measures about 12 inches (30.5 cm) overall with the porcelain head measuring about 3 3/8 inches (8 cm) long and the wooden handle about 9 inches (23 cm) long. The body of the porcelain part appears to be solid. The main surface of the porcelain is a glossy glazed and the bulb head is unglazed.The pestle has seen a good deal of use as you can see from the marks on the head and the signs of use on the wooden handle. However, it is in very good, solid, usable condition. The handle and head are joined together very securely without any sign of looseness or wobble.If the actual postage turns out to be less than the amount charged by Ebay, I will immediately refund the difference.
