Inside, they contain teeny tiny little battery powered lights that are set to brighten and dim on a gradient as you turn the lantern pedestal at the bottom.As there is a battery inside, these earrings weigh about 9g per earring. They weigh more than our typical earrings, so we offer a no-piercing over-ear cuff option, which you may find in the drop down menu.If these battery powered lanterns are set up to maximum possible brightness, that maximum will remain for 1-2 hours. However, they dim relatively slowly from that point and will retain enough brightness to be visible in a normally lit room if left on continuously for 2 full days, and in a low-light room for 2-3 full days after that point. They will then be about as bright as a glow in the dark object for a while after that. Overall, they will maintain some amount of visible glow for at least 8 or 9 days total of continuous turn-on time (aka if they were never turned off for 8 or 9 days or 200+ hours straight), so this represents many hours of real life use time on a single battery!*This listing includes enough spare batteries to change each earring twice, as well as an instruction card for changing the batteries, using your earrings, using the light dimming pads and where to find additional batteries after you have used all that are included.We offer spare batteries here, but it can be slightly cheaper to search amazon for"10-pack 3AG3 / 3LR41 / 3x392 Replacement Batteries 4.5V for All Bore Sight Laser Cartridges" there's a listing with green plastic wrapped batteries last we checked. In a pinch however, you can take un-packaged LR41/AG3 batteries and use tape to create your own triple battery packs. The purpose of the tape is to electrically insulate the batteries from the side walls of the light unit. Otherwise, the lanterns will not turn off when the base is unscrewed unless the batteries are entirely removed.All printed parts are created from UV cure resin on a 3D printer. They are fully cured and clear coated before assembly.
