Description: Produced by Goldscheider Vienna Austria in the early 20th Century, bearing it’s mark and the model number 311. At the side of the vase is the signature of the artist Rudolf Podany (1876-1963). This stunning Art Nouveau Vase features a peasant couple returning from the wheat field. He carries as scythe and his hat, she hold a bundle of wheat combs. The wheat field is seen in the background. The vase is primarily glossy but the heads and arms of the couple feature a bisque finish. This is a large piece standing 13 ½”, 11” wide and 7 ½” deep it weighs a little over 8 lbs. There are no repairs, cracks or any outstanding damage to the piece, there are three tiny chips on the hay bail on the left the largest is 3 mm in diameter. and there is a small chip on the sleeve roll of the man, also 3mm in diameter. There is some residue (as pictured) on the underside of the base possibly from felt. This is a rare and magnificent piece.
