Description: Up for sale is a large 6.75 x 4.75 x 4 inch T-Rex Yooperlite carved specimen from Michigan, USA. Yooperlite colors, like most other minerals that fluoresce, are best shown under long wave UV light. The regular black light will show a little of the colors, but nothing compared to the effects and deep colors that the long wave UV lights show. I have added a video to show the beautiful colors under the long wave UV light. According to Rock and Gem magazine, Yooperlite are fluorescent sodalite rocks are found along the shores of the Great Lakes and are especially popular in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the shores of Lake Superior. The origin of the name “Yooperlites” is the abated abbreviation of “U.P.” for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. “Yoopers” are the area’s colloquial citizenry. “Lite” refers to the rock’s fluorescent properties from sodalite.
