Description: Late 17th Century Dehua / Blanc-de-Chine Dog of FooTaper-Stick Holder / Incense Burner From the provincial kilns of Dehua, a single large, skilfully modelled Kangxi period Buddhist lion,one paw resting on a stylized brocade ball, ribbon in mouth, seated on a plain rectangular plinth. Condition: The taper chimney is missingas are some of the applied mane, tail and decorative elements.Also a hairline crack to the left of the mouth and some firing flaws. Nevertheless these figures are becoming increasingly hard to find particularly at this scale and with the quality of modelling that allows.It displays beautifully.
