This sculpture is in good condition. Signed see photos, numbered 145. Note: some chips on the edges of the cap, slight enamelling defects, wear and tear, see photos. * Louis-Henri Nicot (1878-1944) is a French sculptor. He is the son of the entrepreneur Henri Amédée Nicot and Blanche Augustine Ardilouze. student at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Rennes before becoming a professor at the Olivier-de-Serres School of Applied Arts in Paris. He is a gold medalist at the Salon des artistes français. He decorated the courthouse in Reims and created the Monument to the Fallen of the Army of the Rhine in the main cemetery in Mainz. He is also the author of the Evangéline statue (Rennes Museum of Fine Arts), The Martyrdom of Longfellow, Annaïg Mam Goz du Faouët, and the Monument to Théodore Botrel in Pont Aven. He created numerous ceramics with Breton themes, including The Three Gossips, Le Leonard with Calf, The Chicken Merchant, The Sailor's Vow (around 1930) produced by the earthenware maker Henriot de Quimper. He also sculpted busts of Admiral Émile Guépratte and Charles Le Goffic, as well as numerous monuments to soldiers who died for France.
