Description: Large Wood Ganesha Large cross-legged Ganesha purchased in 1995 at an antiques shop located in Bandung, Java, Indonesia. Measures 18” tall X 17” wide X 15” deep. Weight is approximately 50 lbs. Material is estimated to be Suar or Acacia. Appraised by the Danish Mearto firm. Created mid-20th century. Smooth carving style said to be Balinese. Note the flawless fine details of the and embroidery carvings. No artist or other info is found. Minor weathered condition is as purchased 25 years ago. Piece was placed into storage since acquisition. Item is in otherwise perfect condition with the exception of some cracking behind the ear decorations. Bottom concavity is crudely chiseled.
