Description: We found these in Kyoto. They re unusual, and we think rare, because this style of cards is usually a Japanese card game titled the "100 most famous poems" in Japanese history. These are the exact same style poetry cards but are all about and for the Meiji emperor. Because of the very stylized writing, the poems themselves may be hard to read even for Japanese. But the pictures are very worth looking at reflecting the images / culture from the Meiji era. These could be taken as an unusual collector item or as an art piece displayed in a frame There are 100 cards with poetry and 100 cards with a pictorial image and poem. 200 cards in all (we counted) We have been selling Japanese antiques for 26 years. We are shipping from Los Angeles. We have other antique/vintage Japanese items on ebay. Please see our "Other" items. We will combine items for shipping.
