Designed especially for the VaPro made Midwest 5 gallon 20 liter metal jerry can sold at Harbor Freight and other vendors.Instead of relying constant pressure from the sealing cap on both the top surface and the gasket on the end of the filler neck, the Viton "O" ring is pushed into the inside of the neck of the opening.The standard part included from the factory used a thin flat rubber washer resting on the end of the can's neck, the o-ring is actually pushed inside the neck and provides additional sealing between the inside of the neck and the cylindrical wall of the solid Delrin sealing disk. This way, the disk is retained by the o-ring even when the can's screw on collar is removed.Even if the cap is loosened by vibration during transport, the seal is secure and will not leak unless the internal pressure in the can exceeds the seal's integrity.This system uses the same design as the OEM mounting flange and O-ring sealing system that is used to mount and secure the fuel pump assembly to the fuel tank on the the car.The disk and o-ring provides the can with a double seal.The disk is custom machined from "POM" acetal Delrin - the same gasoline and fuel-proof material used to make fuel pump components inside the fuel tank of most vehicles.A retention groove is carefully machined into the disk to hold a premium fuel and oil proof Viton O-ring.Pressure is applied between the rigid Delrin disk, the Viton O-ring and the top of the can's filler neck for a leak-proof vapor-proof seal that will outlast the life of the can.This disk also fits most all Midwest, Briggs and Stratton and Wedco gasoline, kerosene, diesel and water cans.A FULL CAN has been positioned upside down placed in the bed of a pick-up truck, unsecured (not tied down) and driven over a rough road for over 50 miles without leaking.
