Description: Dreams Come True. Pride Week Calendar [Caption title] Title: Dreams Come True. Pride Week Calendar [Caption title] Publication: Dallas, Texas: Dallas Gay Pride Week Committee, 1981 Description: 8½" x 3 5/8". Single-sheet, double-sided, tri-fold pamphlet. Very good minus: faint but moderate stain to each panel, light insect predation to bottom edge of front. This is a schedule of events for the 1981 Gay Pride Week celebrations in Dallas, Texas. Sponsored by Miller Beer, the program spanned from June 14-27, 1981. The events started out with a memorial service and all-night prayer vigil, which former LGBTQ+ publication This Week In Texas reported would be in honor of "Houston GPC's Fred Paez, killed by a police officer last June; Boot Camp manager Earl Hill, murdered at Queen's Point in April, 1980; San Francisco's City Supervisor Harvey Milk, assassinated by Dan White; and all the other gays who have suffered from bigotry and hatred." The pamphlet also announced the "Razzle Dazzle Dallas" third annual "all-community disco event," as well as the "largest Gay Pride Week parade in Dallas history," an arts and crafts fair, fashion show and benefit auction. The Dallas Gay Alliance sponsored an evening of "excellent films with gay characters and themes" and the "Gay Olympics" were scheduled for all day Saturday in the park. It also shared that the trial to challenge the Penal Code section that made homosexual conduct illegal in Texas was to begin during the events, and there would be various discussions, lectures and fundraising opportunities. A rare and early relic of Gay Pride events in Dallas. Not found in OCLC, though a Google search revealed one holding at the University of North Texas. Very good -.
