My Aunt and Uncle (who were persistent autograph hunters) knew Aaron Spelling, who was one of the producers. Spelling introduced them to Lizabeth Scott on the set, during a lunch break. She didn't like signing autographs, and was very shy. But Spelling asked her to sign it for him and she obliged before going back to the set. ABOUT LIZABETH SCOTT Lizabeth Scott (1921-2015)- was an American actress singer and model. She was known for her "smokey" voice and one critic called her "the most beautiful face in the genre of film noir during the 1940s and 1950s." Lizabeth Scott was often compared to Lauren Bacall and Tallulah Bankhead. At the age of 21, Lizabeth was introduced to Producer Hal Wallis, who helped start her career. After seeing one of her screen tests from other studios, Wallis saw her potential and she made her film debut in "You Came Along" in 1946. She was cast with actress Barbara Stanwyck and Kirk Douglas in "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers." (1946) Scott had the distinction of being the first Hollywood star to visit Britain at the end of World War 2. When she attended the premiere of "Ivers" but was rushed back to Hollywood for the film-noir classic "Dead Reckoning" (with Humphrey Bogart in 1947). Actress Rita Hayworth was the first to be cast but she was too busy filming "The Lady From Shanghai" with husband Orson Welles. Lizabeth Scott got the role instead, changing her career forever. Appearing with Bogart made an impression and Scott was voted one of the 7th Most Promising Stars of Tomorrow." After World War 2, a new breed of actresses acted on the screen during the 1940s. A few years earlier, Hollywood had created the sexy, wisecracking platinum blonde. When the war was over, the blondes became more "hard-boiled." Scott's tough demeanor and sultry quality were used in a number of noir-films in the 1940s, including "Desert Fury," the classic "I Walk Alone" and "Too Late For Tears,." playing the ultimate femme-fatale. Other films included: "Pitfall," (1948), "Easy Living," (1949) and "Paid In Full," a drama released in 1950. Lizabeth Scott had a reputation for being difficult with her co-stars, including Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster and Charlton Heston. In the 1950s, she made several movies as a torch-singer/socialite in other "noirs" like "Dark City," (1950) "The Company She Keeps," (1951), "Two of a Kind" and "The Racket," (both in 1951). She also appeared in a comedy "Scared Stiff" (with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis) "Bad For Each Other," (with Charlton Heston), "The Weapon," "Loving You," (with Elvis Presley in 1957), and "Pulp" in 1972." Critics weren't always kind about her acting style. But many now see Lizabeth Scott in a different light. With a revival of interest in the genre of film-noir, her reputation has now risen with film historians.
