Description: Framed picture The Long Drag by Alan Fearnley With a backdrop of Pen-y-Ghent merging into the clouds of an approaching storm, ex-LNER A3 No 60066 Merry Hampton passes the hamlet of Selside on the long haul from Settle to Ais Gill summit. The Settle to Carlisle line is without doubt one of the the most scenic in the British Isles, and the area where the railway threads its way between the three peaks of Pen-y-Ghent,Whernside and Ingleborough is where the scenery is at its most dramatic. The LNER 4-6-2 Class A3 locomotives eventually numbered 78 in all, of which 51 had been rebuilt from LNER Class A1. Built under the direction of Sir Nigel Gresley between 1922 and 1935 the last in service was withdrawn in 1966. No 4472 Flying Scotsman has been preserved. Beautiful picture framed in an A4 (30 x 21 cm, 12 x 8.3 inch) size frame. The picture offered does NOT have the "SAMPLE" watermark!!
