Description: Lot of 11 Vintage Printing Letterpress Printer Type Blocks Some cast lead / type-metal blocks, 1" to 2" face. A few cast copper on wood base. Shipping weight 2 1/2" lbs Several interesting items here. One is a large block of two young boys playing with a dog. It is lead or zinc on a wood base. Also a race horse and jockey in copper on a wood base (details worn). There is a very nice Art Nouveau letter "N", and a group of marching Infantry men. The piece I found most interesting is a wood sphinx which appears to be hand carved on the printing block. Our photo doesn't do it justice. This would likely have been done by one of the people who did wood block illustrations for books and papers in the 1800's
