Description: Luristan Urartu Greek? bronze dagger circa 1200 -1000 BC.Ancient bronze dagger, of elegant form, from the Bronze Age circa 1200 -1000 BC. A tapering double-edged blade, a shaped hilt with an elliptical pommel, hollowed on each face with two blunt end "nails" for a pair of grip-scales. In the period when the dagger/sword was used, the handle would have had a bone or wooden insert, but these never survive three thousand years of time. The dagger has ornate designs all around the sides of the handle including the hilt. These vertical and horizontal markings could possibly be a form of cuneiform writings, common in the ancient Near East.41.8 cm - 3.3 cm (18.46 inch - 1.3 inch). 222.8 gr (7.86 ounces).Comes with a custom made clear acrylic display stand. This Item was purchased in 80's from an estate sale.
