Description: LUTHER BURBANK: HIS METHODS & DISCOVERIES and Their Practical Application. Prepared from His Original Field Notes Covering More Than 100,000 Experiments Made During Forty Years Devoted to Plant Improvement. Luther Burbank Press, New York, 1914 (now more than 100 years old!). 12 volume set complete. Overall condition is VERY GOOD. Red cloth binding. Spines strong, but spine covers of volumes 4-12 damaged (see photos). Top edge guided. All volumes internally sound. Heavily illustrated with direct color photograph prints, a method invented for the publication of these volumes. A few loose prints tucked inside the front covers (besides these, it is possible a few may be missing from the text. I do not know). The man who, as a youth, cultivated the Burbank Russet potato, so well known to so many today by way of McDonald's French fries. But he did much more. Shasta daisies, winter rhubarb, white blackberry, stoneless plum, Royal walnut, Burbank cherry, and so many more wonders of agriculture created by this determined man using selective breeding. I personally read this set (years ago), and found it fascinating. I have tried to provide numerous photographs so you can judge the condition of the set. I have photos inside of Volume I (the best volume } and volume 12 (the worst volume). If there is something specific you'd like to know, please ask questions before purchasing. There will be NO RETURNS for this set because it expensive to ship. Bid accordingly. Continental USA bidders ONLY, please. Buyer pays USPS Media Mail shipping.
