Description: Up for Auction is this Antique copy of "LUTHER BURBANK: HIS METHODS AND DISCOVERIES, THEIR PRACTICAL APPLICATION" Volume Two This is part of a set of twelve. The books had at least six writers including Oscar Binner, Edward J. Wickson, and Henry Smith William. The set was originally sold by subscription, and sold for approximately two months' salary. This book was copyrighted in 1914 and was published by The Luther Burbank Press. It contains 304 pages plus a List of Photos. These twelve books were one of the first sets of books published using color photography. Each volume has 105 color photographs tipped in, for a total of 1260 photographs. The Luther Burbank Press devised and perfected the nrw process of producing and printing the color photos. It is called 'Direct Color Photographic Prints'.After the pictures are printed, they are attached to the book. The books were compiled from Burbank's original Field Notes. These books and the photos included provide the most extensive record of Burbank?s work in Santa Rosa and Sebastopol for over forty years, and the most accurate and complete recollection of his 100,000 plus experiments.This copy is in VERY GOOD Condition, especially since it is over 100 years OLD. This is the red simple cloth version of the publications. Each volume has a black and white photo of Burbank inserted in the front of its cover. This is an ex-library book so there is a card envelope on the first front endpage and two stamps on the Title Page. The hard cover shows wear including rubbing at the ends of the spine, bumped corners, and a faded spine. The picture of Luther and the gold on the front and top of the pages are all clear and bright. The gold lettering on the spine is a bit faded; but readable.
